Hello from Chicago! For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated with the idea of roadtripping from coast to coast (well, nearly) on Route 66. This is partially motivated by my corny desire to re-trace the chase for the American Dream, an ideal so substantial it managed to drive the nation westward, and partially motivated by my obsession with "American Pickers", a History Channel show featuring two dudes scouring the nation for Americana artifacts.
And now, this crazy little dream of mine is finally coming true. 11 days, 8 states, more than 2100 miles, and the promise of a whole lot of adventure! L and I are spending tomorrow exploring the Windy City, but come Saturday, we'll be on the road. I'm going to try my best to get back into my blogging boots by posting regularly along the way, but for real-time updates, make sure to follow me on Instagram!
Wish us luck!
About estherinasworld.com
Basics. I'm a 21-year-old Chinese-Indonesian girl currently attending Columbia Law School in New York City. Prior to this, I've lived in Jakarta, Singapore, London, and Berkeley where I attended UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
Third-culture kid? Growing up at international schools, I was taught that I was a third-culture kid, a global nomad, a world citizen. There's a technical definitionfor the term, but to summarize, all that mumbo jumbo means I don't quite feel at home anywhere but everywhere. It's this trait that has kept me traveling whenever possible and thirsty for exploration anytime else.
Estherina's World. I started this blog as an online diary of sorts. A way to coherently document my life's passions and adventures- namely my avid globetrotting, borderline shopaholism, and frequent nom nom fests. Since then, it's grown into a living, breathing record of my favorite sights, sounds, tastes, and feels. One that I've become quite fond of adding to and one that I certainly hope you enjoy browsing.
Final note. I've been told that I have a slightly caustic tongue, but I do try my best to behave. In any case, I promise one thing. This blog will always be honest.
